Our main choice GE Adora JB750 has been discontinued and we replaced it with a newer model GE Adora JB735.

We are currently also working on new models to consider and will update this guide accordingly when we finish.

A good electric stove (or stove, whatever you call them) should allow you to easily cook a full-size meal and keep it warm-on the stove or in the oven. Over the years, we have personally and online researched and reviewed different electric freestanding stoves. GE JB735 stands out. It comes in five different finishes and has a complete set of cooking functions, and you can find it in the price range of less than $1,000.

This GE offers the best balance of manufacturing quality and cooking functions within a reasonably priced electric range, and it has more finishes than most products.

*At the time of publication, the price was US$820.

GE JB735 provides as much oven space and versatility as any electric stove at this price. The smooth cooktop is well laid out, and the two most robust and versatile heating elements in the front row are the easiest to reach. The 5.3 cubic foot oven is enough to hold a 26-pound turkey or 15 x 20-inch roasting stone. It has a convection mode and two self-cleaning modes (high or high temperature). Steam and wipe). The previous version of the series, the JB750, received most of the positive reviews and looked generally reliable, so we are optimistic about the current model. But please keep in mind that since this model is a new model, we are not yet sure how it will perform in the short to medium term, and so far, there are not many reviews on retail websites from which we can draw conclusions. We will monitor customers Feedback whether there is any evidence of widespread deficiencies and update the guidelines as we learn more. We do want the oven to be equipped with a third shelf.

Frigidaire has features similar to GE JB750, although its time to market is not long, so we don't know much about its reliability.

*At the time of publication, the price was $1,150.

If GE JB735 is not available or you just don't like the brand, the new Frigidaire Gallery GCRE3060A is a good choice. The specifications and functions of the two furnaces are similar. In theory, they do not have any obvious advantages or disadvantages compared to each other. But Frigidaire only has two finishes (decreased from five finishes). Its time to market is not long, so its owner ratings are less, which makes us less confident in its quality and reliability.

GE has produced a lot of very cheap product series, and this product is the most cost-effective.

*At the time of publication, the price was $550.

If you don't want to spend too much on the stove, we recommend any electric free-standing GE series that fits your budget. GE JB645 strikes a particularly good balance between cooking functions and manufacturing quality at an affordable price. It has a sleek cooktop with a range of power elements you would expect to find in more expensive cooktops, and a 5.3 cubic foot oven that is larger than most competing models. There is no convection mode, which is typical for such a cheap stove. But it has a high-heat self-cleaning function, which is not common in similar products.

This dual oven series has one of the largest lower ovens we have seen in this quirky product category, and is also one of the most powerful power burner elements we have seen in any standalone series.

*At the time of publication, the price was $1,720.

If you are looking for a dual oven series, we recommend that you use GE Profile PB960. It has top-notch cooking features, including a cooktop that is as powerful as we see on any free-standing cooktop, and an oven that is more suitable for larger birds and barbecues than other two-cavity models.

This GE offers the best balance of manufacturing quality and cooking functions within a reasonably priced electric range, and it has more finishes than most products.

I have been writing articles about electrical appliances professionally since 2012, first as a staff writer at Reviewed.com and now at Wirecutter. During that time, I have spent more than 100 hours working on stove guides, including researching more than 200 different models. I also co-authored our high-end series of guides.

The following is the research we have done for this guide:

To be clear, we will not conduct our own hands-on performance tests like Reviewed or CNET. But even these sites have not tested many major cookware recently. In the past, we made sure to read the performance reviews of the models we considered recommending, but we hardly found any reviews of the latest models. Our selection is mainly based on research and reports, as well as the time to press buttons, turn knobs and open doors in the electrical showroom.

If you need an affordable electric stove, this guide is for you. We specialize in independently designed 30-inch wide (the most common size in the U.S.) radiant electric furnace (or range, the terms are interchangeable) (with finished sides and backsplashes, so you don't need to install between cabinets). The price of these stoves is usually around $1,000.

If your kitchen has a gas connection, you may need a gas stove. If you are willing to spend more money on a stove that looks better or has more cooking features, you can consider a slide-in stove. If you have a very large budget and want to create a personalized item for your kitchen, we also provide a high-end, professional style guide.

GE Adora JGB735SPSS has the best appearance and manufacturing quality of all the affordable gas stoves we have found, and will not skimp on cooking performance.

Any stove will cook your food. But after talking with a group of experts and comparing more than 60 models, we believe these are the most important features in the independent electric range:

Any suitable range has at least one 2,400 watt power burner, but on better models you can expect up to 3,300 watts. A more powerful burner can heat up your cookware faster, so you can save a few minutes of waiting for the water to boil or the pot to heat up for a good scorching. Some readers tell us that they prefer to install the most powerful burners in the front row of the stove for ease of use, and some manufacturers tell us that their own research shows that most stove buyers have the same preferences. But one advantage of placing the strongest burner diagonally is that it is easier to install two large pots or pans on the stove in this arrangement, and we have heard from some people that they would rather install a powerful one in the back row. Burners, so they can boil water in places where children can’t reach the pot.

Most ranges have a 1,200-watt simmer burner and a low-wattage "warm" zone where you can hold or melt without scorching anything.

The Flex-width element is very common. They add some flexibility, allowing you to choose between two or three different element "sizes" to match the width of the pot or pan you are using.

Any stove that costs more than $600 should have a smooth top surface. These are easier to clean than exposed coil components. They look more stylish and can be used more easily with large pots and pans. (However, this type of surface is more prone to scratches.)

We really like cooktops that you can control with a removable physical dial instead of buttons because they are easier and more responsive.

Capacity is important, but almost every oven we find is larger than 5 cubic feet, which is enough to hold a huge 26-pound Thanksgiving turkey, a 16-inch pizza stone, or other than the largest bakeware or bakeware All bakeware.

Any stove you find comes with two oven racks, but for the higher-priced models, we would like to see three.

If you spend more than $600 on an electric stove, you should expect it to have a convection cooking mode. If you choose to use this function, the fan on the back of the oven will be turned on to dissipate heat evenly, so you can cook at a lower temperature for a shorter time. When it works well, large batches of biscuits will bake more evenly, pastry crusts will be crisper, roasts and vegetables should be crisper on the outside and more juicy on the inside. Many electric convection ovens have an additional heating element near the fan, which (supposedly) makes the temperature of the entire oven more consistent. Depending on the brand, it is usually called true convection or European convection.

If you spend more than $600, you should also expect some type of self-cleaning. Most models use very high temperatures to burn dirt, but some use steam. We have read too many user reviews and bashing the steam cleaning mode is almost useless, so we prefer the high temperature method. However, it would be better to have both options at the same time. For the same reason, we like physical dials to control the cooktop, and we like to see a numeric keypad for entering the temperature and cooking time in the oven.

The more finishes you choose, the more flexible you will be when decorating your kitchen. We are slightly biased towards those who have at least three options, one of which should be stainless steel.

For the models we were able to view in the store, we looked for knobs that felt firmly fixed within the range, without much gap between the dial and the body. We checked whether the oven door opens smoothly but not too lightly, sliding shelves and drawers, and tightly laminated control panels. (All the units we saw are floor-to-ceiling models, so they may have experienced more wear and tear than the range in a typical house.)

Reliability and customer service are difficult to determine. But this is the standard we set for our choice: owner reviews should not reveal any clear and consistent common flaws, design issues, or extremely bad product support models. For this reason, we prefer older and more popular models because they tend to have more user ratings, so we know more about them.

We also considered the reliability data of JD Power and Yale Appliance Lighting. However, these two sources are not comprehensive.

In our many years of electrical reports, we have also collected feedback from service technicians on the brands they consider the most reliable. But this is very anecdotal and not very consistent, so we will not weigh it too much in our decision unless there seems to be a consensus on a brand or product.

Frying boilers, temperature probes or any other cooking accessories are cool and practical, and many series come with one or more of them as a toss. But you can also purchase any of them separately.

Additional cooking modes such as delayed start, food-specific presets, or scan-to-cooking modes are all good, but we doubt that most people have ever used them. We did not deliberately avoid using these cooking mode models because they are difficult to avoid, but we don't like them either.

The Wi-Fi connection will not oil the turkey or turn it over. It can more easily diagnose faults within the scope, which is more useful. Some models allow you to use voice commands to control oven settings, but we believe this is not enough to offset the potential security and privacy risks of connected devices. In any case, there are not many independent areas with Wi-Fi.

This GE offers the best balance of manufacturing quality and cooking functions within a reasonably priced electric range, and it has more finishes than most products.

*At the time of publication, the price was US$820.

Many free-standing electric stoves have excellent features and are reasonably priced. But we like GE JB735 more than others. Its cooking functions are as complete and convenient as you will find. In addition, it has five finishes to choose from, which is the most we have seen in any independent series. Although we still don’t know how reliable this series is, we think its predecessor GE JB750 (which still offers anti-fingerprint slate and anti-fingerprint black slate), when we see it with our own eyes, it feels solid and well-structured, and It received most of the positive reviews. The only problem we noticed in the previous version is the unique backsplash of the series, which feels a bit fragile and hollow.

GE JB735 cookers are versatile and well-designed. We like that its two strongest heating elements are in the front row, with 3,100 watts and 3,000 watts. At this price, these elements will boil water or heat a pot as quickly as anything. Roughly speaking, it should boil a gallon of water in 8 or 9 minutes, depending on the type of pot.

Both elements are designed with dual zones and flexible width, which can accommodate pots of different sizes. There are also two 1,200 watt elements in the rear corner (for stable stewing) and an 80 watt "warm zone" in the center (perfect for melting butter or keeping a pot of rice warm). All of these are found on a smooth glass ceramic surface with indicator lights to let you know if the cooktop is too hot to touch.

Although not the largest oven we have seen in this price range, the JB735’s 5.3 cubic foot oven is still large enough to cook 26 pounds of Thanksgiving turkey or a large 15 x 20 inch roast stone. We think no one wants more space.

The oven also has a "true" convection mode (meaning it has an additional heating element near the air circulation fan), two shelves, a numeric keypad for setting temperature and cooking time, and two self-cleaning modes ( High heat and steam).

The JB735 has five finish options-more than we have seen from any other free-standing series:

We have not seen the JB735 in person because it is too new and there are few reviews for this model, but we will continue to monitor customer reviews for potential issues and update this guide accordingly.

Frigidaire has features similar to GE JB750, although its time to market is not long, so we don't know much about its reliability.

*At the time of publication, the price was $1,150.

If GE JB735 is not available, or if you prefer other brands for any reason, we recommend that you use Frigidaire Gallery GCRE3060A.

In theory, this Frigidaire has several small advantages over GE, although they are meaningless. Its oven has a larger total capacity (5.7 cubic feet, higher than GE's 5.3 cubic feet), because the cavity is about 2 inches high, but the range of a single oven is already large, and it is difficult for us to think of a useful practical situation. The rear baffle is also stronger than GE's, but it will not affect the performance or reliability of the series.

Some specifications are not so powerful, but even so, it is basically irrelevant. The power burner (3,000 watts) is not as strong as GE’s most powerful element (3,100 watts), and the “warm” zone (100 watts) is not as low as GE’s 80 watts.

The most significant difference is that Frigidaire has only two finishes-stainless steel (GCRE3060AF) and black stainless steel (GCRE3060AD)-while GE has five.

Otherwise, Frigidaire GCRE3060AF is very similar to GE JB750. The sleek cooktop has a similar layout. The oven has two self-cleaning options, including high temperature mode and convection cooking mode. Frigidaire regards the air frying mode of the oven as a special feature of the free-standing stove, but this is actually only a version of convection cooking.

On Home Depot, based on 997 reviews at the time of writing, GCRE3060AF has an average rating of 4.6 stars (out of 5 stars), and 91% of car owners gave it at least four stars. Its owner rating is much lower than GE JB750, so we are not very confident in the quality and reliability of Frigidaire. But so far, there is no evidence that there are any general problems. Due to the limitations of the coronavirus, we did not have the opportunity to check GCRE3060AF, but we did use the old version of the series FGEF3059T, which is the old version in this guide and is no longer in production. We found it to be a solid range, and the reviews were equally reliable.

GE has produced a lot of very cheap product series, and this product is the most cost-effective.

*At the time of publication, the price was $550.

If you don't want to spend too much money on the new electric range, we will recommend any GE model that fits your budget. They all have value-for-money features and have above-average owner ratings. We think GE JB645 is a particularly good deal.

Compared with the more expensive JB750, the JB645 lacks only a few features. The oven does not have a convection mode, so you must stick to traditional oven cooking. The cooktop has no heating zone, so if you want to melt something or keep the pot warm, you must pay more attention.

The largest element on the cooktop has a diameter of only 9 inches, which is lower than the 12 inches on the JB750, so the wider pan will not be heated directly to the edge. The control panel does not have a numeric keypad, only the up and down arrow buttons. It has only five finishes instead of six (no black stainless steel).

Compared with other ranges at this price, JB645 has very good specifications. It is not common to see two 3,100 watt elements on such an affordable stove. It also has a high heat self-cleaning option, but this price cannot be guaranteed.

We had the opportunity to visit JB645 at Lowe's in Portland, Maine and found that everything was sturdy and durable. The plastic knob rotates smoothly without too much looseness. The door is very light, but not too light. Shelves and storage drawers can slide in and out smoothly.

At the time of writing, JB645 has nearly 3,000 owner reviews, with an average rating of 4.5 stars out of 5 stars, and 91% of reviews give it at least 4 stars. There are usually complaints that the cooktop is dirty or scratched too easily, but you should anticipate the risks of any glass ceramic cooktop.

JB645 has white (JB645DKWW), black (JB645DKBB), stainless steel (JB645RKSS), anti-fingerprint slate (JB645EKES) and anti-fingerprint black slate (JB645FKDS). The slate version is about $100 more expensive than the glossy or stainless steel version.

This dual oven series has one of the largest lower ovens we have seen in this quirky product category, and is also one of the most powerful power burner elements we have seen in any standalone series.

*At the time of publication, the price was $1,720.

A dual stove is not as spacious or versatile as a dual fireplace, but it is still a great way to add extra cooking convenience to a kitchen set up with an ordinary 30-inch stove. We recommend GE Profile PB960 because it has the best cooking function of any free-standing electric cooker and it seems to be well-built.

Compared to similar stoves of other brands, Profile PB960 has the strongest and most versatile stove we have found, with a power of 3,600 watts. The lower oven cavity has a clearance of 17.5 inches, which is at least one inch the highest you find in this category. The extra space means that large turkey, ham, or other roasts are more likely to fit. This GE should be able to handle a 20-pound turkey. The lower oven also has a convection function.

It still has some of the same shortcomings as all double oven series: bending all the way down to the lower oven can be painful, you may not be able to put the largest birds or roasts in it, and you may go between ovens Some heat transfer. In addition, this model has no knobs or dials, only digital controls-even for cooktops.

However, if you think that the dual furnace series can meet your needs, we think Profile 960 is your best choice. It is available in two finishes, stainless steel (PB960SJSS) and black stainless steel (PB960BJTS).

Maytag MER8800FZ: This Maytag has a powerful stove with a simple and smooth top layout, and a very large 6.4 cubic foot oven, but too many user reviews complain about the self-cleaning mode, which is a proprietary steam function called AquaLift.

Whirlpool WFC310S0ES: Our old budget choice WFC310S0ES did not really justify the specifications at a reasonable price. Yes, it is a bit cheaper than our main budget option, but it has a weaker cooktop, open coil elements and a smaller oven.

GE JBS60DKWW: This GE is very similar to our budget choice-just a bit cheaper, the stove layout is more messy, and there is no self-cleaning function.

Hotpoint RBS360DMWW: This Hotpoint is the cheapest range we considered this year. It's definitely affordable, but we don't think the $100 saved is worth the really weak cooktop, coil elements, smaller oven and lack of self-cleaning features.

GE JB258DMWW: We generally like the cheaper GE series. If you want to be cheaper than our main budget option, this is a good choice. It has more or less the same specifications as Hotpoint, but has a larger oven and self-cleaning function.

Induction cookers are a great way to cook with electricity, and some people even prefer to cook with electricity instead of gas. (Here is a primer on how it works and what benefits it has.) There are several affordable independent sensing ranges available. But for many years, we have heard that these are not reliable products, so we are not willing to recommend them at this time. If you want to install a full-size induction hob in your kitchen (except for a cheap portable induction hob), you should pay at least a few thousand dollars for something durable. A standalone induction cooker is the gold standard, although you can also get some good slide-in stoves or professional stoves with induction cookers.

After categorizing nearly 60 electric slide-in stoves, we recommend GE JS760 as a reasonably priced and reliable stove that looks good in most kitchens.

Switching to gas cooking is good for your health and the environment, but we believe that switching to gas is not as urgent as the recent headlines suggest.

We have reviewed more than 60 gas-driven slide-in stoves, and we believe that GE JGS760 is beautiful in appearance and reliable in performance, suitable for most kitchens.

GE Adora JGB735SPSS has the best appearance and manufacturing quality of all the affordable gas stoves we have found, and will not skimp on cooking performance.
